Phaztech Adaptive Channel Indicator

Structure · An Adaptive Centered Envelope

A moving-average envelope built on Brian Millard's centered average — shifted backward by half its length so it sits in the middle of the data it averages instead of lagging at the trailing edge. Around that centerline it draws an upper and lower band, and it projects the whole channel forward using a damped-trend model that gradually flattens out rather than assuming the trend runs straight forever.

Two band modes

The band can be a simple fixed percentage of the centerline (Millard's original method), or — the mode built for this suite — volatility-adaptive. In adaptive mode you don't set the width at all: you tell it what percentage of candles you want inside the band, say 90%, and it measures real price action and calibrates the width to hit that target on its own. When price reaches a projected outer band, the indicator plots a turn marker and can fire an alert.

Key inputs

MALength 21
Length of the centered moving-average centerline. Use an odd number so the centered line lands on a bar. Use a cycle length from your own nominal model that you find active using your other cycle analysis tools, or better yet use a dominant cycle length from the Cycle Spectral Analysis Indicator.
VariableWidth True
True = self-calibrating volatility-adaptive band; False = fixed-percentage band.
ContainmentTargetPct 90
The target % of candles inside the band (adaptive mode, recommended range 70–99) — the indicator solves for the width that achieves it.
FixedWidthValue 3
The fixed band width as a % of the centerline (fixed mode only).
LevelSmooth 0.35
How quickly the centerline catches up to new price — higher hugs tighter with less lag but more wiggle.
TrendSmooth 0.15
How quickly it re-reads trend direction/steepness. Generally kept below LevelSmooth.
DecayFactor 0.95
How much momentum the projection keeps. Near 1 extends longer before flattening; at 1 it never decays. Lower number causes the decay to speed up.
Alert_On True
Platform alerts on the turn markers when price breaks an outer band.
Print_On True
Prints the actual % of candles that ended up inside the band, so you can verify the self-calibration is working.
LicenseKey ""
Paste the license key you receive at purchase — the indicator won't run without it. Each key activates on up to two devices.
DeactivateThisComputer False
Set True to free up this device's license slot (e.g. before moving to a new machine), then set it back to False.
screenshot channel

Indicator plots a centered moving average with variable width envelope based on volatility and adjusts to maintain set % of bars within the channel and includes a projection from the end of the centered moving average to the last bar on the chart.
