Phaztech Spectral Analysis Indicator

Discovery · Goertzel + Bartels · Bar graph & Print-log

This is where a cyclic analysis starts. It draws a bar-graph histogram in a subgraph, plotting Goertzel Strength and Bartels confidence side by side for every candidate length from 2 to 300 bars, and prints the same ranked results to TradeStation's Print Log. Goertzel finds the candidates; Bartels tests whether each one is real or just noise.

How to read the output

Strength is relative — the strongest cycle reads 100% and everything else is a fraction of it, not a probability. As a rule of thumb, cycles above ~15% strength are worth attention, and on the Bartels side ~31% is the noise floor while ~50%+ is a reasonable cutoff to act on. The dominant printed length is your answer to "which cycle should I feed into the other indicators?"

Key inputs

MaxCyclesToEvaluate 300
Longest cycle length evaluated (range 60–300). Higher needs more history and runs slower.
DetrMethod 1
How price is detrended before analysis (bar-to-bar difference, log return, or none) so trend energy doesn't swamp the real cycle signal.
Length 8
Bars per Goertzel sweep step. Aim for ~3 full sweeps across your history: Length ≈ Bars ÷ (MaxCycles × 3). More history lets you raise it for a sharper read.
ApplyHannWindow False
Smooths sample edges to reduce spectral leakage. Off if Length < 10, on if Length > 20; either way balances leakage against edge tapering loss between 10 and 20.
NumCycles 10
Number of repeats compared in the Bartels test (2–10). More repeats = stronger confidence but needs more bars.
Bandwidth 0.3
Selectivity of the filter feeding the Bartels test — the standard default.
BartelsMinPct 50.0
Minimum confidence for a cycle to appear in the ranked Top-10 list. 31% is the noise floor, not 0% — ~50%+ is a reasonable cutoff.
Print_All_Cycles True
True prints all 299 periods with both scores; False prints just a ranked Top-10 "what should I use" list.
Print_to_graph False
With Print_All_Cycles on, formats the printed output for easy copy/paste into a spreadsheet program.
Draw_Bar_Graph True
Plots the Strength/Bartels bar graph in the subgraph.
LabelEveryNCycles 10
Spacing of the period-number labels along the top of the bar graph.
LicenseKey ""
Paste the license key you receive at purchase — the indicator won't run without it. Each key activates on up to two devices.
DeactivateThisComputer False
Set True to free up this device's license slot (e.g. before moving to a new machine), then set it back to False.

Indicator analyzes the price data on the chart and plots a graph in subgraph showing cycle 2 – 300 strength and significance and prints to the print log a ranked output of top 10 cycle strength that pass a significance threshold and include the slope showing if the cycle is maintaining or degrading and depending if all criteria are met will show True or False.  Alternatively it prints a full list of cycles that can be copied and pasted into spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel for graphing purposes.
