Phaztech Adaptive FLD & Target Indicator
Turning points · An Adaptation of Hurst's FLDA direct implementation of J.M. Hurst's Future Line of Demarcation (FLD). The FLD is simply a moving average of price shifted forward in time by half of its cycle period. That half-cycle displacement turns an ordinary average into a remarkably useful timing and target tool.
Because a real cycle's length is always drifting, a fixed-length FLD would soon fall out of step with the market. This adaptive version takes its length from the bandpass filter's measured dominant cycle, so the FLD re-lengths continuously across the chart to stay matched to the cycle it tracks. A Use_Fixed_Cycles switch lets you lock back to classic, static Hurst-style lengths instead, if you prefer the traditional approach. Each time price crosses the FLD, a price projection is plotted — but treat it as a projection, not an expectation. Historically, bullish projections are often exceeded in strongly rising markets, especially when several FLDs stack up in a cascade, and tend to come up short in falling ones.
What the FLD does
Key inputs
The FLD is the confirmation half of the workflow. The Diamonds tell you a turn is due; the FLD crossover confirms the turn is happening and the Targets project where the resulting move may reach. Consider adjusting some or all of the nominal cycle lengths to cycle lengths you find from the output of the Spectral Analysis Indicator as an alternative to using the default cycle lengths.
Indicator plots FLDs (forward lines of demarcation) and price projection targets when a price cross of an FLD occurs on same axis as price as plotted.
